SENCIAH Kit

The SENCIAH Kit includes 5 thoughtfully designed components that support self-regulation and emotional wisdom:

“My Feelings” cards, “My Body Clues” cards, “My Needs” cards, “Feel Better Powers” cards, and a versatile reflection mat that invites children to move through a guided process.

Together, these elements create an engaging toolkit that helps children explore their inner world, express themselves, and build resilience.

The kit was designed by the talented and loved Aya Navot.

"My feeling" cards

The SENCIAH Kit includes 31 feelings cards that help children expand their emotional range beyond basic emotions.

Children learn to feel, recognize, and differentiate between a wider range of emotions, developing a richer and more nuanced understanding of what they are experiencing.

This makes it easier for them to understand what is happening inside them, what they need, and what can help them feel better.

The cards are color-coded (green, red, and blue), offering a simple way to connect their feelings to their nervous system state and understand what might support them.

"My Body clues" cards

The “My Body Clues” cards in the SENCIAH Kit  -  a collection of 51 cards  - help children develop Interoceptive Awareness, the ability to sense what is happening inside their body.

Through these cards, children begin to notice and understand the messages their body sends through bodily sensations.

As they learn to pay attention to these signals, they start to make sense of what they feel, what it means, and what might help them feel better.

The cards expand their vocabulary of bodily sensations, deepen their connection to the body, and support embodiment.

Emotions begin in the body. When children learn how feelings show up in their unique body, they can recognize them earlier  -  while they are still small  -  before they grow into more challenging behaviors. This early awareness supports emotional regulation and emotional wisdom.

Knowing the names of emotions is not enough. When children connect sensations with emotions, they gain a powerful way to understand and manage their inner experience, supporting resilience and well-being.

Research shows that children with higher interoceptive awareness experience greater physical and emotional well-being and tend to be more empathetic.

 "My needs" cards

The “My Needs” cards  - a collection of 30 cards - help children become aware of their needs, take responsibility for them, and respond in ways that support their well-being.

Inspired by Nonviolent Communication (NVC), they guide children to recognize and understand their needs, and to see how these needs shape what they feel and how they act.

As children begin to recognize the needs behind their emotions and behaviors, they start to understand what is really happening inside them. When a need becomes clear, it is easier to respond  - because they know what they need, what can help, and begin to feel that their needs matter and deserve attention.

The cards present a range of human needs through images and words, making it easier to identify and express them, while supporting self-awareness, self-regulation, and emotional wisdom.

When needs are not recognized or not met, it often shows up in emotions, behavior, and relationships.

By helping children become aware of their needs and respond to them, we support more compassionate and healthy ways of relating  - to themselves and to others.

Many adults are not fully aware of their own needs, or expect others to meet them without expressing them.

This is especially true for parents, who may feel that tending to their own needs is selfish.

Through this learning, children grow into adults who can understand themselves, express their needs, and respond to them in a more grounded and connected way.

"Feel Better Powers" cards

The “Feel Better Powers” cards  -  a collection of 45 cards  - help children discover their personal regulation tools, based on strategies that support the autonomic nervous system in returning to balance and well-being.

The SENCIAH Kit supports children in identifying what works best for their unique nervous system, so they can understand what supports them.

These cards remind children of their superpower  -  the ability to self-regulate and support themselves, even in challenging moments.

As they explore different tools, children learn what truly supports them  -  and begin to trust their ability to help themselves feel better.

"Feel Better Powers" cards

The SENCIAH Kit includes a guided map  - SENCIAH Steps: My Journey Map - a small, table-based map that invites children into an inner journey through four steps of listening to themselves and others.

Through this process, children move step by step: noticing what happened, identifying feelings, body clues, and needs, and choosing what might help them feel better.

This guided process helps children make sense of their inner experience by bringing together body, emotions, and awareness.

It supports them in giving words to what they feel, understanding their needs, and expressing them in a way that invites listening, connection, and cooperation.
