What is SENCIAH
SENCIAH (pronounced SEN-CHEE-IAH) is more than a toolkit - it is an approach designed to support children, families, and educators in developing self-regulation, emotional wisdom, communication, awareness, and healing.
The name SENCIAH represents:
Self-regulation, Emotional wisdom, Nonviolent Communication, Conflict resolution, Interoceptive awareness, Awareness of needs, and Healing.
The “H” stands for healing in all its forms - body, mind, and spirit.
In Hebrew, the letter ה (H) symbolizes presence and a deeper connection to our essence.
Rooted in Polyvagal Theory, child development, and interoception, SENCIAH helps children understand what is happening inside them - in their body, emotions, and nervous system.
Through this process, children discover their inner “superpower”:
the ability to recognize and express their feelings and bodily sensations, understand their needs, and respond in ways that help them feel better - even when the outside world is still challenging.
SENCIAH supports children in learning that they can move through difficult feelings and stay with themselves, building resilience along the way.
The kit includes tools such as feelings cards, body clues cards, needs cards, and “feel better powers” along with a guided four-step process that children can move through using a small, table-based map.
This process helps children give language and meaning to their inner experience - sensing what is happening in their body, identifying emotions and needs, and learning how to express them in a way that invites listening, connection, and cooperation.
Beyond the kit, SENCIAH also includes lectures, workshops, circles, and sessions - supporting parents, educators, and communities in bringing this language into everyday life.
Whether at home, in schools, or in the community, SENCIAH helps children - and the adults around them - build resilience, deepen connection, and create a sense of safety from within.
